President Boakai Concludes a Highly Successful Visit to Seoul, South Korea, As He Returns Home with Exciting News

SATURDAY, JUNE 8, 2024

Seoul, Korea – His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., is happy to return to Liberia after an extraordinarily successful weeklong visit to Seoul, South Korea.

The President was invited to the Republic of Korea by the Korean leader, President Yoon Suk Yeol, to attend the inaugural edition of the Korea-Africa Summit held from June 4-5, 2024.

The Summit brought together Heads of State from Africa, high-level business leaders, the President and members of Korean Government, and many others.

Upon President Boakai’s arrival in Korea after more than thirty hours of travel, he participated in a business summit on Liberia and later engaged in a reception hosted by the Korean Leader. Following these events, the Liberian leader addressed the plenary of the Korea-Africa Summit and held bilateral meetings with his counterparts and several business meetings.

The President also participated in a business and investment forum with Korean investors and delivered an inspiring address on food and mineral security.

On Thursday, June 6, the President engaged with the Liberian Community, reassuring them of his unwavering interest and commitment to rebuilding the country they would be proud to call home.

The Liberian leader concluded his visit with another impactful Business Forum that resulted in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding focused on agriculture, infrastructure, energy, water, etc.

The President expressed profound gratitude to his counterpart, President Yeol and members of the Korean government, and the business community for the exceptional support they provided his team during the weeklong visit. He looks forward to continued engagement and follow-ups.

President Boakai and his delegation will return to Liberia today, Saturday, June 8, 2024.
